What customer-supplied equipment can we install?

The Tracker & Immobiliser Installation service may cover the following, subject to suitability:

• Location-only GPS trackers: simple compatible devices needing no more than three wires for the standard tracker fitting service.
• CAN-bus immobilisers: selected units requiring appropriate integration with supported vehicle networks.
• Autowatch Ghost II: customer-owned genuine hardware where its condition, provenance, programming requirements and vehicle compatibility can be confirmed.
• Ghost Pro: supported genuine customer-supplied systems, following a technical and ownership check.
• Scorpion trackers and compatible immobilisers: subject to the exact Scorpion model, loom, access requirements and installation instructions.

For Tracker & Immobiliser Installation, the model name is only the starting point. An installer may need the manufacturer’s documentation, registration or serial details, correct harnesses, owner account access and a supported vehicle-specific fitting procedure.

Location tracker versus tracker with immobilisation

A basic GPS locator reports vehicle position; a combined tracking and immobilisation system may also control a vehicle circuit or require additional wiring, relays, authorisation or remote services. Such a combined unit is not included under the standard three-wire GPS tracker fitting. We can review it as a separately approved immobiliser installation if technically suitable.

If your unit requires four or more wires, complicated hardwiring, an additional interface or specialised functions, ask us for a separate quote before booking. We do not treat complex devices as equivalent to a simple three-wire location tracker.

Installation labour only — what is included?

A compatible Tracker & Immobiliser Installation appointment normally covers review of the supplied equipment, an agreed installation position and connection method, discreet routing of standard wiring where practical, suitable configuration and basic functional testing of the features that can be verified on site.

• Review of the customer-supplied tracker or immobiliser and accompanying parts.
• Professional installation using the appropriate available vehicle connections.
• Discreet routing and secure placement where feasible for the particular vehicle and unit.
• Connection checks and functional testing after installation.
• Basic handover showing confirmed operating functions and any further app or account setup requirements.

Equipment you must bring

Before your Tracker & Immobiliser Installation, ensure that you have the complete, working device and all relevant manufacturer-specified parts. You may need a wiring loom, connector, compatible fuse-tap or harness, relay if required, fitting guide, account details and any SIM or subscription required for tracking. Not all devices include these in the retail box.

No tracker or immobiliser hardware is supplied under this listing. Missing parts, faulty units or unsupported equipment can prevent completion and may mean rescheduling or quoting for extra work. Any optional parts or non-standard labour will be agreed before proceeding.

Subscriptions, apps and certification

A Tracker & Immobiliser Installation does not automatically include a GPS monitoring subscription, SIM plan, manufacturer account, recovery service or insurer-required certificate. These depend on the device and provider, and the customer remains responsible for relevant subscriptions and account access unless separately agreed. For insurer recognition, check the exact device, fitting and documentation requirements with your insurer before purchase or booking.

Standard three-wire GPS tracker fitting

The normal Tracker & Immobiliser Installation price for a location-only GPS tracker is limited to a device requiring no more than three wiring connections. The exact customer-facing installation price is shown on the WooCommerce product page; equipment is not included.

Additional relay installation — £50 extra

If the agreed tracker or immobiliser setup requires an additional relay to be installed, the extra fitting labour charge is £50. You must supply a suitable relay unless we explicitly agree to provide parts separately. The relay charge is not included in the standard tracker installation price.

Work requiring its own quotation

• GPS trackers that require more than three wires or feature-specific wiring beyond a simple location unit.
• GPS devices with integrated immobilisation, starter interruption or other control functions unless separately accepted as a suitable immobiliser installation.
• Additional relays, vehicle-specific integration modules, non-standard harnesses or specialist diagnostic work.
• Fault finding on pre-existing vehicle electrical issues, defective hardware or previous installations.
• Dash camera fitting, which is a separate service.

We will explain the additional Tracker & Immobiliser Installation requirements and quote before carrying out work beyond the agreed scope. The £50 extra relay fitting charge does not imply that every relay-equipped device or vehicle is suitable.

• Vehicle: make, model, year and registration number.
• Equipment: exact tracker or immobiliser make and model; a photo of the unit label is helpful.
• Wiring: clear photos of the supplied harness, connectors, relay and instruction sheet.
• Functions: whether the product is location-only, CAN-bus immobilisation, app tracking, remote immobilisation or a combined system.
• Account access: whether you have the original owner code, manufacturer instructions, SIM and tracking login if required.

If you already know that your unit requires extra wiring or an immobilisation relay, tell us before requesting the standard tracker appointment. We review vehicle suitability, equipment completeness and any non-standard fitting charges before installation is confirmed.

Birmingham workshop fitting

Your Tracker & Immobiliser Installation takes place by appointment at UTL Performance in Birmingham. Workshop hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM; we are closed on Sundays. Installation time varies with the vehicle and the exact customer-supplied hardware, so a duration is confirmed after assessment rather than guessed.
