Advanced Vehicle Diagnostics Birmingham

Go Beyond the Fault Code

A diagnostic fault code can point us in the right direction — but it doesn’t always tell us what’s actually causing the problem.

Our Advanced Vehicle Diagnostics service in Birmingham is designed for faults requiring further investigation rather than simply plugging in a diagnostic scanner and reading stored codes.

Using professional diagnostic equipment, live vehicle data and targeted testing, we’ll investigate the systems associated with the fault to get closer to identifying the underlying cause.

What’s Included?

✓ Comprehensive vehicle diagnostic scan
✓ Diagnostic trouble code analysis
✓ Live vehicle data analysis
✓ Sensor data investigation
✓ Actuator/output testing where supported
✓ Investigation of relevant vehicle systems
✓ Visual checks relevant to the reported fault
✓ Fault clearing and re-testing where appropriate
✓ Printed diagnostic report
✓ Technician explanation of findings
✓ Recommended repair or next steps

Diagnosis — Not Guesswork

A common mistake when diagnosing modern vehicles is assuming that the component mentioned in a fault code must be faulty.

That’s not always the case.

A sensor-related fault, for example, could be caused by the sensor itself, wiring, voltage supply, another component or a mechanical problem affecting the readings being reported.

Our Advanced Diagnostic Service allows us to investigate the information behind the fault before recommending parts.

Live Data Analysis

Modern vehicles continuously generate data from sensors and electronic control modules.

Where appropriate, our technicians can examine this live vehicle data and compare different readings to help identify abnormal operation.

Depending on the vehicle and fault, this could include analysing:

Engine operating data
Sensor readings
Fuel and air measurements
Boost pressure information
Temperature data
Electrical values
Requested versus actual values
Control module information

The exact tests performed will depend on the vehicle and the symptoms being investigated.

Actuator & System Testing

Where supported by the vehicle, diagnostic equipment can also be used to command certain components and systems to operate.

This allows our technicians to gather additional evidence rather than relying solely on stored fault codes.

Ideal For

Recurring engine management lights
Fault codes that return after being cleared
Poor engine performance
Misfires and rough running
Sensor-related faults
Boost and turbo-related problems
Emissions-related faults
Performance issues
Electrical problems
Vehicles where parts have already been replaced without solving the fault

Vehicle Brands We Diagnose

Our Advanced Diagnostics service is available for a wide range of vehicles including:

BMW • Audi • Mercedes-Benz • Volkswagen (VW) • Porsche • MINI • Range Rover • Land Rover • Jaguar • Bentley • SEAT • CUPRA • Škoda • Ford • Vauxhall • Peugeot • Citroën • Renault • Nissan • Toyota • Lexus • Volvo • Hyundai • Kia and more.

We regularly work with modern European, German, prestige and performance vehicles requiring more than a basic fault-code scan.

When Advanced Diagnostics Isn’t Enough

Some intermittent, electrical and communication faults require significantly more testing time and specialist investigation.

If initial testing indicates that a fault requires wiring investigation, advanced electrical testing, network diagnostics or considerably more diagnostic time, we’ll explain our findings and discuss moving to our Pro Diagnostic Service.
